Convenient to live so close to a university. I'm guessing that's not the only night you ever spent at Horton, either.

I had a friend who said there were areas of Pitt that are practically swimming in smack & crack. I do remember the last GD show @ 3 Rivers---there was NO hooch to be found in the lots, but I did ground score about 5-6 grams of GREAT weed on the floor after Rusted Root played.

Frederick, Maryland. approx 40 miles west of Baltimore, 35 miles north of DC, & 35 miles east of Hagerstown. For some reason, other than Balt., many people know Hagerstown, eventhough Frederick is the 2nd biggest burg in MD outside of Balt. Kinda weird.

I think I'm just noticing how many here are currently living in, or are from Cali.

Yea, 2 years in a row! My only hope is that they keep it up for at least another year or 2. Funny thing is I don't recall seeing the guy taping last years show that's here @ LMA.

MD isn't much different in terms of it's political & cultural leanings. There was a big hullabaloo for the last elections with someone from Montgomery County calling us "Frednecks" ( a term I've heard/used for years & years), and it was funny how many people embraced it, and how many found it degrading----pathetic. Mostly it was drawn along the lines of folks who've lived here for more than 10-15 years, and the recent influx (5-10 years) of those who left Mont. cnty for cheaper housing & still commute to Silver Spring & DC.

They love it up there, too. I've visited Minneapolis many times and love it. Check out my brother Spencer's band The Blend, they play all over the upper mid-west and are based in Minneapolis. What a scare about the bridge.

Yeah, it is a cool place. Not too far from Seattle (saw the Sox pound the Mariners yesterday) and Vancouver. It's especially nice in the summer - it's sunny and about 70 today. I am still getting used to the rain and the darkness in winter, but this place has the best summers of anywhere I've ever lived. Ratdog came through this area last winter and I saw them in Vancouver. I wish Phil would come up this way, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.

Would love to but I will be on the Olympic Peninsula for a few days vacation at that time.

I never saw a show at the Greek, but I hopped the fence and checked it out a few days after New Years 1990-91.

I hope you're right about Phil next winter/spring.

Enjoy the Olympics, that area is beautiful.

That has been the pattern for years, hopefully Phil doesn't break with tradition. Every once in a while he throws a curveball and comes in the summer. I catered backstage the show he did at the Cuthbert (Eugene, OR) in July 2001. Fun time and a nice show.

That show was before my time. There were occasional rumors that the Dead would come back to the area, or maybe play in the Poconos, but it was not to be. Eastern PA was a convenient home for seeing shows: Phildelphia, New York, Meadowlands, DC, Boston, Hartford, Hampton, etc all reasonable drives.

Sadly, that show was also before my time.

It doesn't seem all that important to remember the trip there. The main thing is you made it and presumably remember at least some of the show. A good friend of mine saw a huge number of shows in the early-to-mid 80s and he always said 11-1-85 was one of the most incredible shows he ever saw.

Hey Bryan - it's a funny old country this. People get upset about being misplaced by a few miles or by being placed in the wrong social category. Anglican has to do with the Church of England so I guess being neither English nor a churchgoer I might have got a bit uppity at the time. Apologies for that - we know each other better now. Hope your day is going well.

There it is. As I alluded earlier in the thread, I am but an ignorant yokel that calls home a no-man's-land located at the nexus of distance between St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Memphis, and therefore don't know shit from Shinola about Anglican.

The day started going much better about five hours ago, after the work day was done. Before that, it was astounding what a comedy of errors Monday morning at the radio station was.

I'm going to start researching Surrey soon and learn what I can about your town.
